MFCC Podcast Session 012: Stripers, Trout & Preparing Your Boat Engine For Spring

In this session of the My Fishing Cape Cod Podcast we'll talk about stripers and what to expect this coming week. In addition we'll also discuss Cape Cod's freshwater scene-in particular the trout bite.

But first I interview marine technician Paul Parker from Eagle Marine about how to prepare your boat engine for this spring. If you own a boat, are a member of Freedom Boat Club, or are thinking of purchasing a boat then this interview will be extremely valuable to you.

More specifically, in this podcast you’ll find out about:

  • What you can do right now to help ensure that your boat engine will run smoothly for your first trip
  • The must-do "homework" and questions you need to ask before purchasing a boat this spring
  • The details behind why Eagle Marine has chosen to exclusively service Yamaha and Evinrude engines, and why this is important to understand
  • How I have gotten over 3,000 hours on my 150HP Evinrude Etech engine without any major problems and the things you can do to increase the longevity of your Etech engine
  • How you can prevent the most common engine problems and issues
  • The simple tools and materials every boat owner should have onboard their boat in case something goes wrong with their engine

In Addition You'll Also Learn:

  • When I expect the stripers to arrive on Cape Cod
  • Where to find Cape Cod's first stripers of the season and the best ways to catch them
  • Specific tips for finding and catching your first striper of the season this week (hopefully!) on Cape Cod
  • About Cape Cod's many freshwater fishing opportunities and why I am fishing freshwater hard for the first time since I was a kid
  • Why the Cape is a great place to take your kids freshwater fishing

At the end of the podcast I will also answer select questions from the My Fishing Cape Cod Forum.

Special thanks to my cousin Kevin Collins for producing this podcast!
