Live Mackerel Tuna Fishing

ryan collins my fishing cape cod breakfast

This clip was filmed on July 22nd of 2019. Somehow I never got around to sharing it, but I figured better late than never!

During this trip myself and a crew of members from My Fishing Cape Cod were fishing with captain Cullen of Cape Star Charters

If you look real close in the video below, you might be able to see the bite! Watch as the tip of the rod on the left barely moves, right before Cullen starts reeling like crazy (in order to get tight on the tuna).

I guess the moral of the story is to always be paying close attention, because sometimes even bites from big tunas can be very subtle. This is especially true if the fish takes the bait and then swims towards the boat.

Tight lines! 🎣

  1. Oh Ya, I was lucky enough to be on that trip. It was an awesome day, it was a like being on a National Geographic shoot. Whales, whales and more whales, dolphins too, there was life everywhere. We saw lots of tuna but they just weren’t in the mood to eat. Then right as we were ready to call it day, Cullen hooked up.

It was definitely a great trip and one that I will remember.

  3. Great video. It takes a lot of work to land a tuna! Very exciting! Do each of the guys get to take home some fish? I watched the video til the end and was surprised to recognize your launching point! I fished there a lot this Spring! Took my granddaughter there too! great little spot!

    1. Glad you enjoyed the video. That particular fish was sold because it was larger than 73 inches. If the tuna was less than 73 inches, then we would of divided up the meat amongst the crew. And yes, that is a great little spot to launch from. Very scenic area.
