Tautog are my favorite early spring fish to catch! Here are my top 3 reasons why.

When you get into a "tautog blitz" you can get bites on every single drop. If you haven't caught a fish all winter long, then a good tautog bite might be exactly what you need right now.
These fish are also extremely strong for their size. Tautog fight remarkably well and they are a blast to pull off the bottom as they try their best to bury you into the rocky caves and crevices which they call home.

Tautog are arguably the finest eating fish in our local waters, and we are truly blessed to have these fish within a short run from the dock.
Whether you like a simple breading and pan fry, or prefer to try something new like tautog ceviche, you really can't go wrong with this white flakey fish. All tog will be filleted and bagged for you, unless you prefer to take your fish home whole.
Tautog fillets also freeze exceptionally well.

By attending a tautog trip you will instantly learn exactly how to catch these awesome fish. Articles and videos are great, but nothing beats seeing it done first hand by a professional captain.
I also really enjoy tautog trips because it's an easy going experience with plenty of time to get to know your crew and have fun together. This past weekend we had a great mix of people onboard including moms, sons, retirees and folks in their 20's and 30's.
Our Friday morning crew had fun despite 32 degree temps! Fortunately the weather is looking warmer for this weekend and into next week!
My tuna trip with Cullen last Sunday was one of the best days in my life! Thank you for doing what you do. Can't wait to go again.
My last trip resulted in a wonderful battle with a huge striped bass on my fly rod - the largest fish by far I have ever landed on a fly (which I tied myself the night before). Thank you to the efforts and advice by your excellent Captain Tyler who put me in just the right spot.
Another successful day for Michelle. Tyler didn’t like the weather out by the sea bass beds so we stayed off of the Yarmouth area and targeted Bonita. Michelle’s first one!
For a while we had an escort, good size hammerhead.
Now Michelle is ready for tautog, we have created a fishing monster, lol
I wanted to take this time to tell you how much I enjoyed fishing with Captain Tyler on Monday. At first, I was disappointed that we were not able to go to Nantucket to chase big bluefish, but that feeling faded quickly as Captain Tyler put us onto big striped bass in the Monomoy rips. We then chased and caught bonito for the rest of the morning. He really worked hard to keep us on the fish. That trip and the previous one I had with Captain Jimmy the Greek made me very happy that I signed up for these trips through your organization.
I cannot say enough good things about Jimmy "the Greek". That trip was all that I expected and then some. His boat is the nicest ride on the water - it handles the waves like nothing. Jimmy is extremely knowledgeable and is the best captain I’ve ever fished with. He puts you right on the fish constantly and all day long. He is definitely a seasoned old salt. What a great guy and great trip, thanks!
We had a great trip with captain Tyler. We all had a great time and caught many slot sized stripers. Tyler put us on fish in a safe location well protected from strong southwest winds!
Had a great day with Tyler catching striped bass. He is an excellent Captain. On the fish and really helpful. A great guy. For being 84, I had a special day.

What a morning on the water at the rips off of Monomoy. Captain Tyler did it again. Getting ready to go again in July.
First father and son trip in a few years and Captain Tyler put us on the fish. My son Sean caught is personal best at 38” and we maxed out our keepers. Tyler always makes it a memorable day, and it was fun pairing up with a couple MFCC members.
The fishing was crazy! It seemed every cast produced a strike!
Kudos to Captain Willy Hatch! Nice guy and very personable. He made the long day enjoyable and with a smile. Willy and Tyler are the type of fellows that you would want to head into a tavern and have a beer with. Both just down to earth guys. I enjoyed the trip, especially meeting with fellow MFCC members and past fishing partners. We are already planning our next fishing trips together. Well Done!
Tyler got us on a ton of massive albies today! It was awesome!
Have to say how great my 5 charter trips were this year, split between Cullen and Tyler. It was my first time and we limited out and brought home two species on every outing. It was also so much fun getting to fish my own untested homemade lures.

Just wanted to say I had a great time 🎣 with Captain Cullen. We caught a lot of stripers that day and the weather was perfect! I’d have to say that was the best fishing charter I’ve even been on. The captain and the rest of the other patrons on board were great and friendly people and hopefully get to fish with them again. I’ve learned a lot from fishing that day and hopefully become a better fishermen.
Great time this morning. I got about 10 fish and other guys did as well. Couldn’t have had better weather.
Thank you so much for putting all of this together! I had a great time this morning with Tyler and the other guys on the boat. It was the best day I ever had fishing for Black Sea Bass, and I caught my largest sea bass this morning. The action was just terrific! This has been a great blessing to myself and the other guys on the boat.
