October Albie Trips

by Ryan Collins

Fishing for albies is perhaps the most exciting type of inshore fishing Cape Cod has to offer. Albies are the fastest swimming inshore fish on Cape. They are incredible fighters and fishing for them is an adrenaline pumping experience!

Between the topwater feeding frenzies, the drag blistering runs, and the ferocious lighting-fast hits, it just doesn't get much more fun than catching albies!

MFCC member Jeff Cotto with a 30 inch albie he caught while fishing with captain Tyler onboard our September 16th group trip.

Fortunately for us, all this September we've had one of the top albie captains on Cape guiding us to the bite!

Captain Tyler of Flatliner Charters has been on the water nearly every day this September, chasing the albies and keeping My Fishing Cape Cod members on the fish.

Not only is Tyler plugged-in to the bite and consistently on the fish, but he's also a friendly and patient charter captain who we've worked with for several years.

So many MFCC members have emailed me this year saying nice things about their trips with Tyler. I've literally received dozens of testimonials.

Here's just a few examples of what people have been saying...

"Tyler's the best. Great time today. Birds all over the place. Hit the striper limit early and then tautog with the same results." - Ken Walker

"Just wanted to let you know I had an awesome experience this past Saturday fishing with captain Tyler. My wife and I really enjoyed eating the catch. Thanks again!" - David Palmer

"Tyler was fantastic and kept us on the fish from start to finish! Emma really had a blast on her first charter. Please thank Tyler for making this trip so memorable!" - Neville Anthony

We even filmed an albie episode of My Fishing Cape Cod TV with Tyler last September! You can watch the episode in two parts. Click here for part 1 and click here for part 2.

During these trips you'll be fishing with Capt. Tyler Putney onboard his 28' Whitewater Center Console. The Whitewater is powered by a 2021 300 horsepower Mercury outboard and is equipped with Simrad electronics.

The 28' Whitewater is an open and spacious fishing platform. It offers a soft ride even in choppy conditions.

Tyler's center console offers plenty of space for casting and fishing.

Tyler has an extensive network of captains that he works with to help find the albies and keep one another safe while on the water. Tyler grew up commercial fishing on draggers, he is handy with engines and does a lot of work on boats, and sells clams during the offseason.

During these trips Tyler will take you wherever the albies are feeding the best, and wherever the weather allows. Typically he fishes for albies off the Elizabeth Islands, in the rips of Vineyard Sound, along the coastline between Mashpee and Harwich, or at the rips off Monomoy.

However this year Tyler has even taken MFCC members to Nantucket Island!

Another beautiful albie caught onboard one of our late summer group trips with captain Tyler. We're hopeful that with cooling water temps, the albies will be chewing hard this October.

When fishing for albies everyone onboard is supplied with a rod, reel and lures. Tyler will bring you to the fish but it's up to you to make a cast and trick them into biting.

The cost will be $289/person with a max of 4 anglers per trip. Online registration will take place this Saturday September 28th at 9am.

Available albie dates:

Monday September 30th
Tuesday October 1st
Friday October 4th

At 9am sharp on Saturday September 28th members of My Fishing Cape Cod will receive a link via email to where members can signup for trips.

Tomorrow, we'll talk about October tautog fishing. Fishing for tog is one of my favorite things to do during October because they are typically here in good numbers. Not to mention they fight hard and are awesome to eat.

Stay tuned! 🎣
