Fishing Billingsgate Shoal with Laura Jay Charters

Summer is a special time to be a fisherman on Cape Cod. The fishing can be incredible, especially when bass school up on sand eels.

This past June, massive schools of sand eels poured into Billingsgate Shoal during the month of June. This sparked prolonged topwater feeds as stripers slurped them off the surface.

Back on June 16th, I had the pleasure of joining Captain Don Cianciolo of Laura Jay Charters during one of our weekly My Fishing Cape Cod group fishing trips.

Billingsgate Shoal was covered with sand eels, and the stage was set for an excellent day on the water.

Topwater Action Over
The Shoals

Once we reached Billingsgate, we immediately saw birds working throughout the area. They were swooping down to grab sand eels from the surface.

It didn't take long for the bass to catch up, and for epic blitzes to occur!

Below is a video report documenting the entire trip with Laura Jay Charters. Please click play below to watch.

Over the next several weeks we will be running more group fishing trips like the one above. We'll also be running a special September "educational" group fishing trip with captain Don of Laura Jay, which will focus on teaching crew members the secrets of trolling the tube and worm.
