New Forum Feature: Connecting Boat Owners with Crew Members

by Ryan Collins

Recently one of the most commonly mentioned requests is that members would like to meet and fish with more members. To help facilitate those connections, we're excited to announce a brand new addition to the My Fishing Cape Cod community forum that we think you're going to love – our Boat Owners & Crew Connection threads!

Why We Created This Feature

Anyone who's spent time on the water knows that fishing is almost always better with good company. For boat owners, having reliable crew aboard makes trips safer, more enjoyable, and often more successful. Meanwhile, many of our community members who don't own boats are eager to get out on the water, learn new techniques, and share in the Cape Cod fishing experience.

We recognized that our community had both sides of this equation – captains looking for crew and anglers looking for boats – but no easy way to connect them. That's where our new forum threads come in.

How It Works

We've created two dedicated threads in our members' forum:

🚤 Boat Owners Looking for Crew This is where captains can post details about their boats, typical fishing areas, and what they're looking for in crew members. Boat owners can share photos of their vessels, describe their fishing style, and outline expectations for potential crew – whether that's help with expenses, specific experience levels, or just enthusiasm for being on the water.

âš“ Crew Members Looking for Boats Here, fellow anglers can introduce themselves, share their experience levels, and let boat owners know they're available and eager to get out fishing. Whether you're a seasoned angler without a boat or someone just starting out who wants to learn, this is your space to connect with captains.

Building Community, One Trip at a Time

This feature is about more than just organizing fishing trips – it's about strengthening the bonds within our Cape Cod fishing community. We've seen incredible friendships form through shared fishing experiences, and we believe these new connections will create lasting relationships both on and off the water.

For boat owners, it's a chance to share your passion while having extra hands on deck and good company. For potential crew members, it's an opportunity to explore new fishing spots, learn techniques from experienced anglers, and contribute to memorable fishing adventures.

Safety and Respect First

We've designed these threads with clear guidelines to ensure everyone has positive experiences. We encourage honest communication about experience levels, clear discussions about expectations, and mutual respect between captains and crew. Safety is always the top priority, and we've included reminders about the importance of being comfortable with your captain and vessel before heading out.

Ready to Get Started?

Whether you're a boat owner looking to share your next fishing adventure or an angler hoping to get out on the water, head over to our members' forum and check out the new Boat Owners & Crew Connection threads.
