Bluefin Blitz: Recreational Tuna & Vineyard Sound Report with Evan Eastman

by Kevin Collins

The most exciting development in Cape Cod waters this July has been the incredible bluefin tuna bite happening just south of the islands. After a disappointing 2024 season, this year has been nothing short of fantastic since July 1st, with some boats reporting double-digit catches in a single trip.

Red Hot Tuna Action

The dog days of summer have arrived on Cape Cod, but the fishing action is anything but slow. According to Evan Eastman of Eastman's Sport & Tackle in Falmouth, Massachusetts, the waters around Cape Cod are experiencing some of the best bluefin tuna fishing in years, along with solid opportunities for stripers, bluefish, fluke, and other species throughout the region.

In this report Evan goes into great detail about:

  • Recreational blue fin tuna reports from just south of the islands
  • Productive tuna tactics for trolling
  • Other ways to successfully target tuna such as jigging
  • Striped bass from shore and in Vineyard Sound
  • Surfcasting for bluefish and fluke in the greater Falmouth area
  • South side surfcasting for sharks
  • Vineyard Sound and Elizabeth Islands boat reports
  • Monomoy striped bass and fluke fishing
