Cape Cod Canal: Returning to Form
The Cape Cod Canal has experienced a resurgence in recent weeks, returning to the productive fishery that local anglers know and love. After a brief lull following strong fishing in early July, the canal is showing renewed signs of life with plenty of slot-sized striped bass making their presence known. Recent reports indicate consistent catches of slot size and slightly above slot bass, with these fish actively feeding on the surface during prime morning tidal conditions.
In this report AJ goes into great detail about:
- Bait flowing through the canal and how to match it
- Optimal lures for casting in windy conditions that will be present this weekend
- Productive canal locations and tides for this weekend and beyond
- Buzzards Bay still holding above slot size striped bass as well as bluefish
- Fluke resurgence in Buzzards Bay and how to target fluke from shore and boat
- Blue fin tuna bite continues to be productive
- Reports of giant tuna inside Cape Cod Bay
- Funny fish are on the horizon with Bonito already present
