Top 10 Tube and Worm Tips for Monster Bass in 2012

trolling for striped bass
A nice 35 pound striper dredged up on a 24 inch red tube and worm.

The tube and worm is one of the most productive and consistent striped bass fishing techniques around.  Season after season the tube accounts for more big bass (at least in the area I typically fish) than any other technique.

I'm hoping 2012 will be just as productive, if not more productive than past seasons.  Here's a few tips that should help make your 2012 tube and worm trolling a lot more fun and productive.

Good luck!

Ryan

1.  Add a stinger hook to the tube

2.  Troll the tube slightly above or slightly below bass when they prove difficult to catch

3.  Keep extra tubing and wire on board to replicate a productive tube

4.  Establishing a productive trolling pattern is vital to success

5.  Biggest waste of time is trolling in area with no marks on the sonar

6.  “When in doubt, put the lines out” mentality towards possible bass marks on the sonar-especially important during periods of slow fishing

7.  Troll 3 tubes at a time

8.  Experiment with different tube lengths, colors, and depths to zone in on the productive combo

9.  Use a rod with a soft tip and don’t horse the fish in with a tight drag

10.  Set the drag tight enough for the bite to establish a solid hook set
