Eric Gutekunst - member since 2017
Today I'm excited to introduce you to My Fishing Cape Cod member Eric Gutekunst (@steaknjakefish).
Eric brings dedication, experience, and generosity to MFCC, embodying the values of sharing fishing knowledge and fostering the next generation of anglers. 🙌🏻
Growing up in Millis, exploring local waters with a small flotilla of 10-foot boats, Eric's saltwater passion ignited aboard his father's 16-foot aluminum "Tin Man" in the Three Bays of Plymouth/Duxbury/Kingston.
After serving six years active duty in the Coast Guard, Eric returned to his Kingston home waters with renewed vigor. For Eric, fishing serves as stress relief, escape, and a cherished connection to his late father. His most epic battle came in June 2023 at Peaked Hill—a five-hour fight with a 90-inch bluefin on light spinning gear that ultimately broke off after two boatside encounters. While that fish got away, the memory remains intact. 🐟

Recently, Eric's found his greatest joy watching his three-year-old son discover fishing magic, jigging up mackerel with pure excitement.
Whether targeting his favorite spots—the Three Bays, Race, Peaked Hill, and Stellwagen—or sharing experiences through his Instagram or forum posts on My Fishing Cape Cod, Eric exemplifies the spirit of passing fishing passion forward while honoring the traditions that shaped him.
