July 27 Website Update: New “Logging-In Feature”

Since launching My Fishing Cape Cod in 2011, I've discovered that feedback from users is the best method to uncover ways to improve the experience here on MFCC.

So when MFCC member Jim Ives wrote to me about a technical issue he was encountering on the site, I knew I had to listen, and begin work on finding a solution as quickly as possible.

I am sure many of you reading this have encountered the same issue that Jim has. It happens when logged-out members of MFCC try clicking on a protected piece of content.

Because you are logged-out, the website used to "think" that you were not a member, and therefore would redirect you to the membership signup page.

The next logical step would be to sign in with your username/password-however after logging in, you used to be automatically redirected to your My Account page.

You would then have to click around and navigate your way back to whatever it was you were originally trying to access.

Fortunately, I am happy to report that as of today this annoying issue has been solved.

I am really excited about this simple (yet big) website update. Please watch the video below to see the update in action. ?

As we move further along into the Cape Cod summer, please don't hesitate to reach out if you discover a technical issue, or see something that could be improved.

I am always up for implementing new features, updates and changes in an effort to continually improve this website and community. ✌?

Tight lines! ?

  • Hi Ryan, it may be purely coincidental, but when I used your new method to sign into my account I received notification that my payment hasn’t gone through. I’ve been sent several new credit cards in the last couple of months, and I’m wondering if your website is catching up with all my changes. The coincidence part of this is that I have been able to read everything on the forum, without having updated my credit card, usually it’s through discourse. So this is an alert to you, that delinquents like myself may still have limited access to the website, even when they’re payments are not going through.

    • Thanks Jane for the heads up! Much appreciated. I believe I have fixed the issue. Please LMK if you encounter anything like this again in the future. I rely on members to alert me to things like this. Thanks again! ??

  • Hey Ryan, my opening page has “ Hello Anastasia ?” which is my daughters name ?, I don’t mind, but have no idea how did it get there….

    • Hey Igor, I just pulled up your account. On my end, it looks like Anastasia was the name used when registering. I have gone ahead and updated it to Igor. LMK if I can help with anything else. ??
