On Wednesday June 11th, I joined another My Fishing Cape Cod group trip with Capt. Tyler Putney and three fellow MFCC members: Mike Dooley, Don Brouillette and Buck Buchanan.

The day was cool and foggy as we set out for the Monomoy Rips at 5 am from the Bass River/Smuggler's Beach boat ramp.

Along the way, we spotted several draggers, and Tyler shared stories from his ten years working on a dragger catching fluke, horseshoe crabs, and scallops. He truly had a baptism by fire as a deckhand, learning all about fishing and managing a large boat.

During this trip the crew was blessed with a beautiful sunrise over Nantucket Sound. Scenes such as this are what summertime on Cape Cod is all about!

Promising Signs at Monomoy Point

As soon as we rounded Monomoy Point, we saw birds flying over the rips, and we all thought, "This just might be a great day for fishing!"

  • Fabulous write-up!

Enjoyed reading it and viewing the photos, wanted to put down my coffee mug, get out of my slippers and head down to the river.
