Cape Cod Fishing Report July 27-30

Fishing off Cape Cod can be a real mystery at times. Just when you think you have the fish figured out, they throw you a curve ball and keep you guessing.

I was talking to one of the most productive commercial striped bass fisherman I know today, and he pretty much summed it up by saying "I just can't figure them out," with regards to how stripers in his area have been acting recently. I too have uttered those same words more than I would like to admit.

I think quite a few Cape Cod fishermen have been thrown for a loop since that NE weather system blew in last Thursday/Friday. The breeze seemed to really jostle things up a bit, and depending on the area of the Cape you were fishing, this was either a good thing or a bad thing.

For me this past week has been full of challenges, some nice surprises and some serious confusion. Just when we land a 40 pounder and I think I have the fish figured out, they vanish and leave me scratching my head. I can only imagine what tomorrow and the rest of this week will have in store.

The Cape Cod fishing report will cover the full spectrum of what's been cracking the past few days in the striped bass fishing world. From 40 pounders to skunkings and everything in between.
