Miles of Stripers

This Cape Cod fishing trip would begin with flat calm seas and end with miles of stripers. It is trips like this one that really amaze me and make me appreciate the current status of the striped bass fishery. I don't think a trip like this one would be possible during the crash of the striped bass stock. I guess we are pretty fortunate to have so many fish around.

I ventured out of my comfort zone to an area of Cape Cod where I do not often fish. With Cape Cod Bay fishing so slow I figured I had to switch things up and do something different. Earlier in the week I had spent a lot of time staring at a blank sonar screen, so I was pretty relieved when I stumbled across this:

sonar 1

Incredibly, marks like the ones above stayed on the screen for nearly one mile. We had a giant biomass of stripers beneath the boat, so I figured it was time to get the lines in the water and start fishing.
