Ryan Collins

MFCC Founder

We kick off this episode with a call to MFCC founder Ryan Collins. Ryan starts by giving us an update of the impressive video footage he's been capturing via drone and underwater cameras. This week Ryan captured underwater footage of striped bass eating mackerel and eels on camera, as well as some amazing drone footage of pogies.

Jeff Miller

Canal Bait & Tackle

Next up is our good friend Jeff Miller of Canal Bait & Tackle. As always Jeff provides us with his weekly detailed fishing report for the Cape Cod Canal. In addition, Jeff reports confirmed catches of huge bass of up to 60+ pounds being caught to the north of Cape Cod.

Evan Eastman

Eastman's Sport & Tackle

Evan Eastman of Eastman's Sport & Tackle in Falmouth follows up Jeff with a report of his own for the waters surrounding Falmouth, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, and the Elizabeth Islands. The big news from Evan is of bonito moving into the waters off the Islands, making for an exciting alternative to bass fishing. Evan reports good fishing for schoolie stripers in the Falmouth area, as well as good fishing for tautog, scup, and bluefish.

Sam Brown

The Goose Hummock

Finishing off today's episode is Sam Brown of the Goose Hummock Shops in Orleans and Dennis. Sam provides us with a full first-hand recap of his latest adventures to the offshore canyons. In addition, he give us a bluefin tuna report for the waters east of Chatham.

  • I need that ice cream! I can’t even get half way across the canal! First time on the podcast but I love Ryan’s footage, can’t wait to see the feeding stripers. Loved the drone footage with the casting to stripers and watching them chase it but never really hit.

    • Hey Dave, I’m glad you are enjoying MFCC! The GT Ice Cream will definitely cast a mile. I don’t think many anglers are using them yet at the canal, but I think it would definitely be worth a shot. Tight lines and keep in touch!

  • I just wanted to comment on the GT Ice Cream lures. I’ve been fishing them since last year and have found them to be pretty versatile and very effective. I’ve caught quite a few bass with the 1.5 – 2 oz sizes, in both rough and flat surf. Just used a straight retrieve with a pause here and there. I bought a few smaller ones to use for albies this fall, and am pretty sure they’ll work well. Anybody else using them?

  • I’m in! The weekly reports and info on MFCC has been great and I look forward to the podcast each week to see whats been happening on the water!

  • Keep up great work and great site. My wife loves 20% discount and the fact I am finally catching some fish! Echo above requests for more canal advice

  • Looking forward to our annual visit to Chatham and fishing for strippers from shore. Information on this site has given me opportunities I could never have imagined.

  • Include places along the canal that would be easier to fish from/land a fish for us older fishermen as fishing from the rocks is too dangerous for me.
Most interested in surf fishing as I do not have a boat.
updates as to when they start charging fees at the beaches.
Overall love the info. Now every trip I take to the Cape beginning of June ,I always catch fish thanks to MFCC.
Also how to tune into the MFCC tv broadcasts as I live in Oregon.
How to service my own reels
    Thank you

  • I’m in.Great podcast.The only improvement I can suggest would be a Monday/Tuesday podcast to go along with the Friday podcast.Just a suggestion.Thanks.

  • Wow, Soo much info!!
I’ll be coming down the week of 26-30th of August so I’ll be listening for next week. And hopefully meet up with some members!!

  • Hello all,
Thanks for the update! Although I’m currently targeting Fluke, May I suggest you put out podcast with brief information Brown Shark fishing.
I remember reading an article years ago what a great battle the Brown Sharks are. I’m limited to one day a week on the water, two if I’m lucky. Staking a pole after work, at night, targeting the Browns Sharks would be Awesome! I’m fishing the Sound area. Any advice?

    -Mike

  • I am all in and so glad to be a member. So much excellent information. I am a steadfast patron of Dick’s bait and tackle in Oak Bluffs MV.
