Late-August Full Moon
Labor Day is bearing down fast, but if you ask AJ Coots of Red Top Sporting Goods in Buzzards Bay, that's no reason for gloom. “This typically can be some of the best times of the year to fish,” AJ states in this week's report. “Weather's really cooperative unless you get some kind of storm that can screw fishing up. But if we don't have that, this is my favorite time of year, both weather-wise and fishing-wise.”
With a full moon arriving Friday, a shorter but well-timed tide cycle in the Cape Cod Canal, and species stacking up from Buzzards Bay to south of the Islands, there's a lot for MFCC members to dig into this week.
In this report, AJ goes into great detail on:
- Optimal Cape Cod Canal tides for this weekend around the full moon
- Striped bass, bluefish, and bonito being caught in the canal
- Baits currently in the canal and how to match them with your plug bag
- Cape Cod Bay boat report still promising for striped bass
- Buzzards Bay boat reports for bottom fish
- Funny fish reports strongest from the islands
- Recreational bluefin tuna starting to make appearances
