Meet “The Fish Monster”: MFCC’s Rising Junior Angling Star

by Ryan Collins

Today I'm thrilled to introduce you to MFCC member, Micah "The Fish Monster" Gonyer.

At just a young age, Micah Gonyer has already become one of MFCC's most enthusiastic and accomplished junior anglers, bringing infectious energy and impressive skills to our community.

Starting at age four when his dad Chris Gonyer taught him to fish and he landed his first largemouth bass, Micah's passion has grown exponentially—though he'll never forget losing his sister's Paw Patrol rod to a big striper that ripped it right from his hands!

Now fishing from Cape Cod to Florida and North Carolina aboard the family's 23-foot center console, Micah targets everything from sea bass to bluefin tuna. His favorite species? Mahi-mahi, for their fighting strength and "splendid colors." Next on his bucket list: white marlin, which his dad promises to help him achieve this year.

Micah's MFCC highlight came in 2022 when he won the junior Albie division in the Cape & Islands Mitsubishi Angler's Cup—a testament to his growing skills and competitive spirit. He loves sharing fishing photos and connecting with fellow anglers through the My Fishing Cape Cod forum.

If you spot the Gonyer duo on the water, swing by and say hello—they're always ready to share their latest adventures and that signature enthusiasm: "We slayed!"

Thank you for being members Micah and Chris, and I can not wait to see a photo of The Fish Monster with that white marlin!

Tight lines 🎣
