The AMAZING Ocean Sunfish!

Ocean sunfish are often a common sight off Cape Cod during late summer and early fall. Cape Cod Bay and the Canal seem to be hotspots for these curious animals.

The following video was filmed in Cape Cod Bay during September of 2019. I figured I would share this video today as a reminder for everyone to keep an eye out for ocean sunfish while boating.

  • I saw one just this week 9/28/2022. Very cool to watch it right off shore “flapping” its dorsal fin for about 10-25 minutes. We were fascinated.
