Offseason Fishing Challenges

This year I would like to try out a new idea called “Offseason Fishing Challenges” to help keep things interesting during the offseason.

Essentially this a way for My Fishing Cape Cod members to get paid to go fishing!

For now the challenges are relatively simple, but if this takes off, then I expect that these challenges will get a lot more interesting.

Here’s a list of the current challenges, which are up for grabs as of today:

  • Catch a holdover striped bass
  • Catch holdover striped bass of at least 30 inches in Massachusetts or Rhode Island
  • Catch a mackerel, cod, haddock, tautog, pollock, squid or winter flounder
  • Catch a largemouth bass, pickerel, rainbow trout, brown trout, tiger trout or brook trout
  • Catch a white perch from a saltwater environment on Cape Cod or on the Islands
  • Catch a smelt anywhere in New England
  • Catch a pike on Cape Cod

After successfully completing a challenge, submit report about the trip (500 word minimum) by clicking here and filling out the form, or by making a post inside our members' forum and tagging @admin.

Include some helpful tips and a general idea of the location, plus photos of the lures/baits, your rod and reel, the scenery and anything else that’s beautiful or interesting.

Once someone completes a challenge, it will be removed from the list above.

Whoever completes a challenge first will be paid $50. If you end up completing multiple challenges during the same trip, then each additional challenge will net you another $20.

So for example, if the challenge is to catch a rainbow trout, but you also end up catching a brown and a brook trout, then you’ll be paid $90.

In fact, the largemouth bass, rainbow trout and pickerel challenges were completed in less than 8 hours after I made this posting! 👇

Tight lines! 🎣
