What If the Off-Season Became Your Most Productive Time as an Angler?

by Ryan Collins

Every winter, the same pattern repeats itself. The boats get winterized. The tackle shops quiet down. The charter calendar goes blank. But here's what doesn't change: your passion for fishing and your desire to get better at it.

While you're scrolling through social media, rewatching last season's catches, and counting down the days until spring, what if you could be learning directly from Cape Cod's most accomplished charter captains and fishing experts?

The Off-Season Learning Revolution

I'm developing something that's never been done before in our region: a comprehensive series of live, interactive Zoominars led by the captains and guides you've always wanted to pick the brain of. Not pre-recorded videos. Not generic fishing content. Real sessions where you can ask questions, see technique demonstrations, and get personalized advice from the professionals who know these waters better than anyone.

Imagine spending a couple hours learning fishing tactics from the captains who consistently boat trophy fish. Picture yourself demystifying Monomoy's legendary rips with guides who've spent thousands of hours reading those currents. Think about finally understanding the subtleties of fly fishing from the experts who make it look effortless.

Mike Fowler of Bad Dog Sportfishing has already agreed to participate in our Zoominar Series!

Tyler Putney of Flatliner Charters is another captain you'll likely see as part of our Zoominar lineup!

Four Topics, Endless Possibilities

I'm planning a specialized Zoominar series covering many of the major fishing environments and techniques popular on Cape Cod:

  • Offshore Fishing for tuna and pelagics, from Stellwagen to the Sword, Crab Ledge to the Dump
  • Surfcasting bays, inlets and wide open beaches for stripers, bluefish, albies
  • Inshore Fishing for stripers, fluke, black sea bass and more
  • Fly Fishing the shallow water flats, targeting tuna on the fly, fly fishing the rips
  • To name but a few of the ideas I'm working on...

Each series will consist of three to four live sessions with local experts, giving you a depth of knowledge that's hard to obtain by watching a YouTube video, reading an article, or listening to a podcast.

I Need Your Input

Here's where you come in. Before I finalize the schedule and confirm the lineup, I need to know when you're actually available to attend. There's no point in creating the perfect Zoominar if it happens when you can't make it.

I've created a quick survey—it takes less than two minutes—where you can tell me:

  • Which days of the week work best for you
  • What times you're most available
  • Which topics interest you most

Your responses will directly shape how these Zoominars are scheduled. This is your chance to help ensure these sessions fit your life.

Be Part of Something New

This winter doesn't have to be dead time. It can be when you level up your fishing game, connect with fellow serious anglers, and learn from the best in the business.

Take the survey now and help shape the future of off-season fishing education on Cape Cod.

The captains are ready. The topics are mapped out. Now I just need to know when you're available to learn.

Let's make this off-season count! 🎣
