by Kevin Collins

Fall Run Canal & Buzzards Bay Report

Welcome to another edition of the My Fishing Cape Cod Podcast presented by Cape & Islands Mitsubishi & The Olde Cape Carwash. In this podcast, we are joined by AJ Coots of Red Top Sporting Goods in Buzzards Bay. AJ provides a report on the productive fall run Cape Cod Canal fishery as well as encouraging updates on Buzzards Bay regarding striped bass and false albacore.

The sun is out, the wind is laying down, and the fall run is still going strong on the Cape! The big storm and new moon have kicked the fall run into gear and there are plenty of options heading into the weekend, including fall black sea bass, tautog, striped bass, and funny fish!

In this report, AJ goes into great detail on:

  • How the post nor'easter canal bite has been some of the best action this season
  • Spots in the canal to target this weekend with the new moon
  • Productive lures for fall run stripers in the canal
  • Buzzards Bay fishing very well for a variety of species including stripes and albies
  • Where in Buzzards Bay to look for striped bass and how to target them
  • False albacore in Buzzards Bay and around the Elizabeth Islands and what's producing
  • Black sea bass season is still open with the fall bag limit
