Hot Yellowfin Bite | July 6th Report

I arrived at at the Nantucket Boat Basin around 8:30am to prepare Rumble, a 36 Yellowfin, for the long haul to the Northeast Canyons.

After the 78 mile run, we put lines in a couple miles north of the canyon and trolled into the deep. The 10 rod spread consisted of bars, divers, and jet headed lures.

After making our way into the canyon, we were greeted by about 15 other sport and commercial fishing boats who seemed to have some success on the yellowfin. We pushed a little west of the fleet to find our own fish and 30 minutes into the troll, I spotted a tideline.

The captain pointed the bow of the boat in that direction and as soon as we crossed the tideline, two spreader bars got absolutely crushed by large sized tuna making huge explosions when attacking the hooked lure.
