College Fishing Club Startup

Hello MFCC! This is fellow member Kevin Conway.

I've been a member here since June of 2015. I'm also the mate on the Lucky lady II Out of Barnstable Harbor.

Between charter and commercial fishing, I probably work and fish 60-80 hours a week during the summer.  What I would now like to do, is start a fishing club at my college.

From one fisherman to another, it would be greatly appreciated if you could help me with this idea I have for the fishing community at my school.

I Am Starting A College
Fishing Club

There are about 30 people who want to participate in a new fishing club at Saint Leo University in Tampa Florida. Saint Leo is relatively small, so 30 people is a great number.

10 more people would like to participate on a competitive fishing team, and conveniently my college is located on a pretty decent sized lake.

Our school also has a dock, which happens to be a great place to fish. My friends and I have caught largemouth bass up to 12.5 pounds from the dock.

We have also caught carp up to 50 pounds from that dock!

While at school I go fishing almost everyday, and I am often accompanied by other students and friends.

I Would Like To Purchase Gear & a Simple Boat

However, most of the kids do not have any gear, and many cannot afford to purchase equipment. I would like to start this club not just for people who want to fish, but also for kids who can't afford their own equipment.

Another one of my goals is to purchase a club boat, like the one pictured below. This way we'll be able to extend our reach well past the local dock.

In addition, I would like to add in some friendly competition. Once per month I would like to host a fishing seminar with our local Boys and Girls Club.

All the money I am raising will go straight to the fishing club. In time we hope to have a positive impact, especially with fellow students who have never fished before.

Any denomination is helpful and most appreciated.

Tight lines!
