The HammerCat Giveaway Is Live — Here’s How to Win a Spot

Alright — it’s go time.

A couple weeks ago I told you about meeting Peter Wiersema and the HammerCat 35HH. Last post, you told us what you wanted to fish for. Now it’s time to actually make this happen.

Entries for the HammerCat fishing trip giveaway are officially open.

How to Enter

It’s simple: leave a comment below — letting us know you want in. That’s it. One comment, one entry.

A couple things to know:

  • By entering, you’re agreeing to have your name and email shared with Peter of Hammer Yachts. Peter would like to stay in touch with everyone who throws their name in the hat
  • One entry per person, so no need to comment more than once

Already dropped your vote for tuna, stripers, albies, or tautog earlier? You’re clearly locked in — now make it official and drop a comment below to actually enter.

What You’re Entering to Win

A handful of lucky anglers" will win a spot aboard the HammerCat 35HH for a fishing trip out of Quissett Harbor in Falmouth, alongside me and Peter — plus one of our trusted MFCC group trip captains running the boat. More on who that is soon.

The trip will most likely happen on a weekend between late September and mid October, with the exact date depending on weather and conditions.

What Are We Fishing For?

You told us. Loud and clear, tuna was the runaway favorite in the comments on the last post — and honestly, with this boat’s range and speed, we don’t blame you.

So here’s the plan: we’re going in tuna-first. If the tuna are around and the weather cooperates, that’s where we’re headed. If not, here’s the fallback order, straight from what you voted for:

Tuna → Albies → Stripers → Tautog

If the tuna aren’t cooperating, we’ll pivot to albies blitzing along the Elizabeths. If that’s not happening, we’ll work the rips off Monomoy for stripers. And if the weather’s bad and we can’t do any of those options, we’ll slow it down and hit the rock piles in Buzzards Bay for tautog. Either way, you’re fishing — and you’re doing it from a boat that can get you there fast and keep you dry, with a fun crew from MFCC.

  • Fishing for Tuna in September can be tough! I prefer July on the southside when school BFT come in closer (think: The Fingers, Claw, & the Dump). In Sept, it’s fishing deep with jigs. Bret B (aka: flyfishinsalt)

  • Never been out on a tuna trip and this sounds awesome. Sorry im not in a place where id be able to buy any type of boat tho. Been receiving your newsletter in my emails and following you on FB for over a year now. Especially since I started getting back into surf casting and salt water fishing in general for the last year after over 15 yrs of not being able to get out at all with work and family obligations. Thanks for putting out great content and pics/vids/reels all year long. Myself and the rest of your followers really appreciate your time and work for the fishing community

  • Had a 55 hatt. Did many trips to the canyon’s had a blast. The boat’s name was Tophatt kept it in Harwich (saquct) anyways its been 8 years since I’ve been out, it’s about time, would like to have the chance, thanks

    I live in northern New Hampshire, 72, retired just 12 months ago
    It’s been another year and only fished the salt water once.
    Over the years I’ve loved fishing the canal and a few beach’s on the cape when I can, a couple of times a year.
    I would enjoy an experience with you on your trip in early October.

  • Good Morning. I would love to fish with you all. I am retiring from the Coast Guard next year and moving to South Carolina. I never been Tuns fishing and would love to try it out……. even more so, I would LOVE to take my son tuna fishing. He is 19 and has been fishing since he was 4. Tuna is a dream for him. Thank You.

  • Looks like a great Off Shore Boat for Pelagic type fish with BFT and Canyon trips because of the ride and handling of any weather conditions. I would definitely like to be in this group as it appears to be headed for one tremendous trip. Being enclosed is such a perk and having a walk around plus sleep options. Beautiful Boat for sure. Good luck to all. I am in and have experience off shore as a first mate to help anywhere needed.
