Late June Full Moon Report with AJ Coots of Red Top

by Kevin Collins

Full Cape Cod "Strawberry" Moon

Heading into the 4th of July holiday week, AJ Coots of Red Top Sporting Goods in Buzzards Bay provides us with a full moon report on the Cape Cod Canal, Buzzards Bay, and offshore. AJ also touches on the bait situation in the canal with a new primary forage emerging with mackerel in abundance. There's also encouraging news to report in Buzzards Bay where ordinarily most of the bottom species have moved out into deeper water summer patters, but not so fast!

In this report, AJ goes into great detail on:

  • Cape Cod Canal full moon tides to target this week
  • Productive fishing windows from the past few days at the canal
  • Mackerel have emerged as the primary baitfish, so what to use in the canal
  • Buzzards Bay boat report for fluke and black sea bass
  • Sea bass resurgence in shallow water bodes well for new fall bag limits
  • Canyons and offshore fisheries consistently firing on all cylinders
