If you’ve been on an MFCC group trip in the last few seasons, you probably don’t need an introduction. Tyler has taken hundreds of our members fishing over the years, and by my rough count, so far we’ve fun 70-plus trips with him this season alone. That’s a lot of mornings in the Monomoy rips, a lot of topwater blowups, and a lot of personal bests for our members.
When Peter and I started planning this trip, there was never really a question in my mind about who I wanted onboard assisting. Tyler will be a great addition to help maximize our chances of having a successful day on the water.

Who Tyler Is
Tyler spent more than a decade as a commercial fisherman on Cape Cod before running charters full time, and it shows. He knows the fish, the water, and his boat inside and out. He holds a USCG 100-Ton Master’s License and has run boats everywhere from the Gulf of Maine to the Florida Keys to the Northeast Canyons.
He also stays tied into a tight network of local captains, which means he’s working with current up-to-the-minute intel, not days old reports. And in the offseason, you’ll still find him on the working waterfront digging clams and working offshore on lobster and scallop boats.
Years of commercial fishing on Cape Cod means Tyler knows these waters inside and out.
Why Tyler is a Great Choice for This Giveaway Trip
What I hear most from members after a day with Tyler is that he works hard and doesn’t waste time. If a spot isn’t producing, he’s already pulling lines and heading somewhere that will. As one member put it, “Captain Tyler excels at putting us on the fish!”
But it’s not just the fishing. I’ve heard from a father and son who came back with a 38" personal best, a first-timer who landed three stripers on her first-ever boat trip thanks to Tyler’s patience, and an 84-year-old member who called his day with Tyler a special one. Seasoned sharpies and total beginners get the same attention from Ty.
Everyone feels welcome when Tyler’s on the boat, whether you’re a seasoned angler or brand new to the sport.
The Trip: Updated Dates
We’ve had to adjust the schedule, so here’s where things stand:
- Entries are open until 10:00am on Wednesday, September 30. To enter, just leave a comment on the giveaway post letting us know you want in.
- The drawing will happen later in the day on Wednesday, September 30, and winners will be announced here on the blog, in the forum, as well as across all MFCC channels and platforms.
- We are shooting to do the trip on Saturday, October 3, weather permitting, aboard the HammerCat 35HH.

Recreational tuna is still the first target, with albies, stripers, and tautog lined up as backups. We are going to make the most of whatever Mother Nature gives us on October 3rd.
