Underwater Bass Bite Caught on Camera | April 20 Report

Over the past 7 days I've managed to get out freshwater fishing on Cape Cod on 3 different occasions.

During these trips I caught largemouth bass, brook, brown and rainbow trout, and even a small white perch!

Later in the week I'll publish a more in-depth fishing report about these adventures. Today I wanted to share a quick video clip of one of my favorite moments.

The second half of the above clip has been slowed down to 25% of its original speed. I was able to capture the underwater footage by trolling a Spydro underwater camera behind my kayak.

The fish in the above video is a largemouth bass. From what I've been told, largemouth bass are not native to Cape Cod's ponds. They were introduced to the area a couple hundred years ago.

The bass (shown above) was pretty good size. He put up a nice little fight and was released in good shape!

Jerk baits like those from Baker lures have been working well recently. I also captured some cool footage of trout which I will publish soon.

Have you been out fishing recently? What have you been catching? Please let me know by commenting below. ?

Tight lines! ?

  • I went fishing at Shivericks pond behind the library in Falmouth, MA yesterday with my son.

Falmouth bait and tackle told me not to go saltwater fishing from shore till next week since it is so cold.

I was able to tempt anything with panther martins or rapala minnows. A guy was fishing with live minnows and stated he had no luck either.

    • Roger that Dwight. Thanks for the update. Hopefully you guys will hit some fish next time. LMK if I can ever help with anything. With regards to saltwater, I think Falmouth Bait and Tackle gave you some good advice. My guess is that schoolie stripers will begin arriving the last week of April and first week of May.
