Garet Suomala

Hello My Fishing Cape Cod! It's your favorite blogger again, me Garet Suomala.

This time I have something a little different to share with all of you. So pull right up your favorite chair and enjoy.

Now the below picture is of me heading over to Martha's Vineyard with Ryan for a few hours to do a talk at the Martha's Vineyard Surfcaster's Association.

It was fun to be on the ferry to the Vineyard!

Are you guys getting sick of seeing my handsome face yet?

Luckily for you, not all of the photos in the rest of this report are of me. LOL.

I don't know why Ryan took a picture of the above chain, but I guess he figured we ought to know what chains look like. Enough said!

Ah yes, stickers! What MV ferry ride would not be complete without them. I think the reason the ferry had these stickers is because they hold the boat together.

Man I have to stop being so funny, because Ryan does not pay me to be funny- well on second thought maybe he does.

Pictured above is the life ring located on the bow of the ferry. Now thank God this did not need to be used, but it was nice to have just as a precaution.

Ahh, another pic of me. These photos of me have got to stop.

At least in this photo you guys won't get scared aware by looking at my face! All joking aside Ryan and I had a real nice trip over to the island.

As we entered Vineyard Haven we saw this schooner in the harbor. Pretty nice view, wouldn't you agree?

This is one of the many "sweets shops" on the island.

Mad Martha's is another great ice cream shop. It's a good thing they were closed! 😉

Now this has got to be the smallest movie theater I have ever seen. In fact, the Capawock theater only had two movies playing.

Ryan and I also visited "Mocha Motts" which is a small little coffee shop. I grabbed a hot chocolate because life is better with chocolate.

Finally we made it to the venue. It was quite nice too.

The fireplace was awfully nice too.

This is where Ryan and I presented our talk about a "Season of Fishing on Cape Cod."

We had a great time presenting to the Martha's Vineyard Surfcaster's Association, but eventually it was time to go home.

What a wonderful night! I wish you all could of been there to enjoy it. Maybe next time

Here we are on the boat to go back home. This is a photo of the car deck on the ferry.

Ryan and I went upstairs to relax and watch the Celtics basketball game.

But when the boat got going, it made such a strange noise that it was very hard for me to pay attention to the game. But I survived, and eventually we made it home by 11:00pm.

So that was our little Martha's Vineyard trip. As always I hope you enjoyed reading about our adventure.

Take care!

  • Hey Garet,
I couldn’t help but notice the absence of a MFCC bumper sticker in your photo of the stickers on the Ferry! It would be cool to start putting them in strategic places like that. When I go into the Apple Store I often change all the computers to show the MFCC Home Page to advertise the site but mostly just to mess with them!
Did you see the new fishing pier in Oak Bluffs? It goes a long way out and looks like a great spot to fish.

  • Nice write up Garet,
I’m sorry I wasn’t on-island to see the presentation and see you both. I did however get to see the recorded version of Ryan’s presentation from RISSA, and loved it. If you ever feel like coming back, give me a shout. I’d be happy to show you some amazing fishing spots.
