On a chilly May morning, with a north wind in my face, I arrived at a Cape Cod estuary to find one of the most beautiful rip setups I've seen. Fast water on one side. Dead calm on the other. A perfect seam — with herring likely moving through it.

A decade ago this jointed swimbait was the go-to plug at the Cape Cod Canal. Then anglers moved on to the next big thing, and it got forgotten.
It shouldn't have been!
Five minutes after clipping it on, a striped bass absolutely demolished it right on the seam. Two fish landed, both released healthy, and home in time for lunch with my family.
