Thank you to everyone who entered and please stay tuned for more giveaways coming soon!

Coffee and fishing go hand-in-hand. Back in the day I would typically swing through the Dunkin' Donuts drive through before an all-night fishing trip. Nowadays, however, I prefer drinking higher quality, ethically sourced coffee that is grown with consciousness.

That's why I was instantly interested when Afuera Coffee Co. owner Matthew Igoe reached out to me asking if there was a way we could collaborate.

Afuera (which means "outside" in Spanish) offers single-origin, specialty-grade coffees, that are selectively sourced from certified Rainforest Alliance farms in El Salvador.

Matt also loves to fish and his business is centered around environmental stewardship. In fact, Afuera donates 5% of all sales to charities & organizations (like Captains for Clean Water) that help keep our afuera the best it can be.

This week Matt and I would like to give six people from My Fishing Cape Cod your choice of a free bag of single-origin, specialty-grade coffee from Afuera Coffee Co.

To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment below. I will randomly draw the 6 winners one week from today on Saturday June 17th, most likely in the evening.

Good luck and tight lines! 🎣

  • Trading companies have been exploiting poor farmers for decades, encouraging them to overuse fertilizers and pesticides and burning out soils. Fair trade coffee promotes justice for the growers, helps protect the environment, and offers us all a chance to try some new kinds. Sounds like a win-win!

  • Heading to North Truro this weekend to look for some stripers from my yak… …need something to perk me up and coffee would do the trick! Tight lines all.

  • Hello everyone. Looking forward to a great summer of fishing. Good coffee is always welcome on the trips. I hope everyone has a rewarding season.

  • This looks really good! Finding good coffee around Costa Rica has not been successful as buying Costa Rican coffee in the United States like Kirkland by Costco. I guess the best stuff is exported.

    • This is worth a pound of coffee! Smart man!

Being a semi tanker driver I can’t settle on a so-so cup of Joe! We, Donna & I always try as much as possible to shop quality, local, sustainable vendors. From seafood & farm markets to coffee & local breweries. At 3-4am wakeup, it duel k-cups of quality, fast coffee & weekends the bean grinder is deployed. Oh-ohh that smell! ☕️

  • Thanks – I will order some – always looking for good coffee – I grew up on Dunkin’ Donuts and crullers with my grandpa – but my kids and grandkids are working hard to make the old guy environmentally conscious – no plastic bottles on the boat, etc. – so this is great – thanks for posting!!

  • Awesome story! Definitely gonna look into them. Count me in for the giveaway, who doesn’t love a nice cup of coffee! Thank you Ryan and Matt for the opportunity 🤙

  • As an Old Coffee drinker and back in another time would drink 20 to 25 cups a day . Now I just do one cup. I would like to try this brand of coffee I like the idea of putting a fish on the packaging. Peace and Prayers
