Falmouth’s “Hidden Gem”

We made a weekend out of it, and I can easily say this was the best weekend ever.

I would like to consider myself a foodie.  Any time I travel anywhere, my first thought is where to eat.  I love to try new places and find those hidden gems that not many people have heard about.

So today I wanted to share my favorite place in West Falmouth.

DSC_0799This is a great stop on your next Falmouth visit!  If you're only skimming through this article, heres a quick recap of what I love:

  1. There's even an ice cream shop in the house too for after your meal.  Enough said.
  2. Smoothies, house made iced teas and coffees are all available for there or if you're on the run.
  3. An authentic menu selection that will not disappoint.
  4. Perfect location!  It's right off the bike path and there's a great outdoor area with picnic tables to sit and eat at.
  5. Super friendly staff.  Everyone in there is relaxed, friendly, welcoming and hot damn they can cook a good meal.

So for those of you who are in it for the long read...

The menu is filled with interesting takes on breakfast and lunch options with something for everyone.  Ryan and I have been here for breakfast (menu pictured below) and lunch.  Everything feels homemade like you cooked it yourself and they have really cool and fresh ideas on what to serve.  My personal breakfast favorite is the Cafe Huevos Rancheros.  The only unfortunate part about that menu item is that it doesn't come with their over-the-top-delicious home fries.  Ughhhhhh they are so good.  And not drenched in grease - just perfectly crafted potatoes.

Am I making you into a foodie yet?!

So on this particular day we made the wise choice to journey there for lunch on the same weekend as the Falmouth Road Race.  Crazy?  Yes.  But wouldn't you risk it all for some seriously good food and a chance to visit Falmouth?

So after sitting in ALOT of traffic, we finally made it to the Village Cafe for a nice little lunch.  I will warn you though, they are only open until 2pm.  We walked in right at 2 however and they were happy to serve us (thank god).

Ryan ordered the Honey Mustard Chicken on Sourdough and I had the Artichoke Melt on Sourdough.

The sourdough was perfectly grilled to crisp perfection and every single ingredient was fresh.

All in all, I give this place a solid 10.  If you're headed to the marina or just visiting Falmouth for the day, stop by The Village Cafe and treat yourself!

  • Made it to the Village Cafe this morning for breakfast and it was excellent. Thanks for the recommendation! I had four huge slices of french toast made from Portuguese Sweet Bread and my wife had the Early Bird. We loved it and will make it a point to head back for lunch at some time.
