Captain Bob Hovey
Good afternoon MFCC. This is captain Bob Hovey providing you with a late October tuna fishing update.
It seems there are a few tunas just about everywhere right now. From Cape Cod to Jeffrey's I think you'll have a good chance as long as the weather cooperates.
We've had multiple bites where we've been fishing the past 72 hours.
On Sunday October 25th my crew and I landed this healthy 77 inch fish.
That fish bit at the very end of the day, just as it was getting dark. I am glad we stuck it out!

I am back on the water today (Tuesday Oct. 28th) and have so far hooked and landed 3 tunas that were just below the 73 inch commercial limit.
My Fishing Cape Codder Jason Mazzola also landed a sellable fish this morning.
The tuna are out there if you put your time in.
Good luck!

Bob: Great report. I think we all know the answer, but I’ll ask anyway, was the gaff still in the fish when you got him up to the boat the second time?
Joe, the gaff was actually still in him when he came up the second time. Once I put the harpoon in him the gaff fell out, but I was able to keep an eye on it and recover the gaff after I had the fish tail wrapped and cleated off.
