MFCC Fishing Classes

This past Saturday morning I met up with 20 fishing enthusiasts for a fun and educational in-person fishing class. I had a terrific time meeting those who attended and I enjoyed sharing some of the fishing knowledge I've been fortunate to accumulate over the years.

Hosting in-person fishing classes is definitely something I will be doing again soon. In this brief blog post I want to share what we covered during this past Saturday's class, and also discuss future classes.

Surfcasting Cape Cod 101

fishing classes with my fishing cape cod

It was cold, but fun!

In this past Saturday's class we covered what I felt was some of the most essential information for surfcasting on Cape Cod. Several of the topics discussed include:

  • When to use topwater plugs
  • How to work a pencil popper
  • How to work a jig
  • How to fish swimming plugs like Sebiles
  • Leaders, knots and terminal tackle
  • How to fish live eels from shore

For me, the best part was meeting some new faces, seeing familiar face, and connecting with people I had up to that point, only communicated with via email, the forum or social media.

Here's a few photos of the class, which was held on the sand and in the wind at Scusset Beach in Sandwich.

All in all I had a lot of fun with this class and I'm looking forward to hosting another. With cold weather looming perhaps the next class will be indoors...then again maybe not!

  • Was the class held in Antarctica? LOL. I moved here to Cape Cod from Upstate New York. I probably would have only worn jeans, a shirt, and maybe a light jacket or sweater.

NOT a shot, only joking around.

  • Hi Ryan – The class was really fun. I meant to ask you the name of the blue folding lure bag you had, it looks like a great way of carrying lures.
Thanks again for the class, It was great to see in person what you have described in your posts and to pick up some new tips. Happy Thanksgiving!

    • Great having you there Jane!

I will see if I can find the name of the blue folding bags for you. They are very convenient. I will check when I get home later today and keep you posted.

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
