Recently I've felt a pull to explore and fish the world beyond Cape Cod. Luckily for me my girlfriend Lauren is up for the adventure!
On December 1st Lauren and I will be leaving our crazy cat Izzy behind, and trading our life here in the USA, for a new experience in Latin America.
God willing I catch at least one fish on that trip! I will have until Christmas Eve to make that happen, and I will keep you posted with how things are going whenever I can connect to the internet.

Exploring the Mountains of New England
But you certainly don't have to go to Latin America to have a fishing adventure! There are so many fantastic places to fish and explore here in New England that choosing one place to visit can seen daunting.
Our most recent travel and fishing adventure was to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. On this trip Lauren and I would be accompanied by Buddy the dog, who is a Schnauzer puppy we occasionally dogsit.
Talk about an epic crew!
This ended up being an amazing trip. I really enjoyed the "exploration component" to this style of fishing.
Click play below to see what I mean, and don't make fun of me for the oddly emotional piano background music.
Especially the part where the camera zooms in on Buddy the dog's face.
This trip was a big win for all involved.
- Lauren photographed a mountain lake which she has wanted to photograph for the past two years
- I caught my first ever brook trout
- Buddy the dog had fun running the mountain trails-plus he was treated like a king at our bed & breakfast

if you are starting to explore streams for trout do you self a favor and learn to flyfish. it will add an entirely new dimension to the obsession we call fishing.
Thanks Greg.
I am hearing that more and more often!
…was that a fire tiger Rebel grasshopper u were using!?? Dick from arlington bait and tackle turned me onto those a long time ago, said they were killer on trout..he was right!
It could be! Here’s a photo of the lure > https://myfishingcapecod.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Trout-lure-chatreuse-cricket-700-pixels.jpg
I agree they work fantastic. I was using a small spinner and could only get the trout to chase the lure. But first cast with the cricket/grasshopper and BANG! fish on.
