Earlier in the week I published this written report about the adventure I went on while searching for my first striper of the spring.

Today I want to share with you a video which highlights the most exciting parts of that striper fishing adventure.

If you follow My Fishing Cape Cod on Instagram, then you might recognize some of these clips. These clips were part of my "Instagram Story" which I shared earlier in the week.

Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours, so today I am posting the clips here on the website so they will be viewable "forever". ??

I hope you enjoy this adventure, and I hope you are able to create your own fishing adventures as we move into the month of May.

So far this week I have been trapping green crabs which I will soon use for tautog and scup fishing. I will post a full update on that front later in the week.

Tight lines! ?

  • Hey man great video ! I’m in south Yarmouth near the opening of bass river. Do you have any tips on what can be caught from the surf ?

    • Glad you enjoyed the video! South Yarmouth is a great place for fishing right now. From Bass River and along the nearby beaches you could catch schoolie stripers. Bluefish will also probably arrive in your area over the next few weeks. Scup, tautog, sea bass and fluke can be caught during late spring and summer from the jetties and inlets in your area too. Gluck and LMK if I can help with anything else. ?

  • GREAT video of schoolies in the surf! You mentioned school bass on the bay, can you divulge any more specifics, it’s a big bay?
Surf? Beaches? Boat near shoreline? Thanks for any direction!

    • Hey Larry, I know of fish being caught all throughout Cape Cod Bay from shore. I have seen photos of fish from Wellfleet Bay near Leutenants Island, Sandy Neck in Barnstable, and also up by Plymouth Bay. In Cape Cod Bay the best tide for most spots is high tide. If you’re able to devote some time to the hunt, then I am very confident you will find some action, as more bass are literally arriving on Cape by the hour. If you need some lure recommendations then just let us know. Also be sure to keep tabs on the forum, as our members inside the forum are very helpful with their daily updates. Tight lines! ?

  • I like the new all black look! You look awesome in the Stormer gear, very surf ninja like. I have found that the Jumpin Minnow works best with an erratic retrieve that includes stops for several seconds. I have had schoolie bass pop the lure several feet in the air without getting hooked as they came up and attacked while it was resting. They actually seem to prefer the Jumpin Minnow stopped then while it is moving.

    • LOL, I love the STORMR surf top. Being almost 100% waterproof from head to toe makes fishing is poor weather so much more enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your Jumpin’ Minnow tips!
