How to Fish a Rooster Tail for Largemouth Bass

I plan on chasing stripers right through the winter, but with November right around the corner, largemouth bass are now biting hard.

One of the simplest and most effective ways to catch a largemouth in a pond right now is to use what is known as a Rooster Tail.

Rooster Tails are great lures for kids to use, because the technique is so simple, and because they catch almost everything that swims in a freshwater pond on Cape Cod and elsewhere.

This week I was able to catch about a half dozen largemouths in 45 minutes of fishing by simply casting and retrieving a small Rooster Tail.
