New Prize for 36hr Grind | MFCC Guppy Pencil Poppers!

by Ryan Collins

As I mentioned last week, this year's 36hr Grind Surfcasting Tournament will happen the weekend of September 27-29. Tonight I wanted to let you know about one of the quality prizes that will be up for grabs!

My Fishing Cape Cod Pencil Poppers are handmade in Plymouth, MA by Wayne and Tony from Guppy Lure Company.  The pencil weighs 1.25oz and casts like a missile. The plug has been rigorously tested for action, balance and casting distance.

The lure floats which makes it easy to work across the surface using an effective "walk the dog" type action. The plug is also built utilizing the finest components in wooden plug making.

The MFCC pencil popper is thru-wired which means there's a 1/16 inch diameter stainless wire running from your knot or snap through the plug to the hooks. This connection is virtually unbreakable.

KROK barrel swivels are used as the forward hook attachment. These swivels test out at 220 pounds and are made from stainless steel. They won't rust or "oval out" even after a full season of rigorous abuse.

VMC hooks are attached using Wolverine split rings. VMC hooks have established themselves as the standard among builders and anglers--they're known for their long term rust resistance. Wolverine split rings are considered to be the strongest split rings on Earth.

The MFCC pencil is painted using a proprietary coatings system that utilizes a sealer designed to eliminate water intrusion and a primer made to add toughness. The paint will hold its color, and a protective clear coating gives a vibrant finish that protects the plug well against chipping and gouging.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in this year's 36hr Grind Surfcasting Tournament will all receive custom wooden My Fishing Cape Cod Guppy Pencil Poppers!

In addition, anyone who attends the awards ceremony will also have a chance to win one just for showing up!

This year's 36hr Grind awards ceremony will take place at Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable on Sunday September 29th from 8am-10am. Even if you don't participate in the tournament you are still welcome to attend!
