Ryan Collins

The 2019 season is flying by and I honestly cannot believe that late summer and fall is right around the corner!

Late August through September is quite possibly my favorite time of the year. The weather is good, the crowds have thinned out, and the fishing is usually productive.

In this post I want to let you know about some new upcoming group fishing trips, as well as great white shark viewing trips

As always, it would be awesome to have you and your friends onboard for one of these memorable adventures. ?

  • August 25th (4 spots available)
  • September 13th "Feature Trip" (1 spot available) Ryan will be onboard this trip filming videos to be featured on MFCC

***Spots onboard these group trips usually sell out very quickly. If you miss out, then don't worry because I will try to organize more trips, if the demand is there.***

MFCC group tuna trips are a great opportunity to target the most powerful fish in the sea, with captain Cullen Lundholm of Cape Star Charters.

During these trips, you may cast Siren plugs to breaking fish, or drop Harness jigs to tuna feeding below. The goal is to target school-size bluefin tuna with spinning and jigging setups - however depending on the situation you may also use conventional setups and live bait. This is especially true if there are only giant tunas around.

You will fish locations depending where the bite is best. You could head to Stellwagen Bank or off the Outer Cape. Captain Cullen goes wherever the fish are and flexibility on your behalf is very important.

Tuna fishing is serious business. The fish are powerful and the weather can be less than ideal. Prior fishing experience and a level of comfort being on the water out of sight from shore is a must. Hooking a tuna (especially on a spinning rod) is a lot of work and can be very taxing on your body.

Aside from bluefin tuna, you may also see different species of whales, dolphins, seabirds, sharks and who knows what else!

Here are the details:

  • Price: August 25th trip - $376/member and $470/non-member. September 13th "Feature Trip" - $424/member and $531/non-member.
  • Max number of anglers: 4 (plus captain Cullen)
  • Trip length: 8 hours
  • Trip time: Sunrise - early afternoon. Exact meetup time will be emailed to you the night before the trip.
  • Port of departure: Somewhere on Cape Cod or possibly Marshfield (depends on weather and where the tuna are). Exact location will be emailed to you the night before the trip.
  • Techniques used: Casting plugs or vertical jigging. You may also use live bait and conventional setups if giant bluefin tuna are around.
  • All gear and tackle will be provided. Please dress warm, bring sunglasses, sunscreen and maybe a water/snack.

Great white sharks are here in abundance and these shark viewing tours will provide you with an opportunity to get up close and personal with these impressive animals.

All shark viewing tours are with myself, captain Cullen Lundholm of Cape Star Charters and a 6 passenger crew from My Fishing Cape Cod.

During these trips, we will utilize a spotter pilot who will be our "eyes in the sky."

We will be in constant communication with our pilot who will call us into the exact location of the great whites.

These trips are intense and very exciting. A lot goes into successfully locating and tracking down great whites in shallow water. It is definitely an experience you will not forget!

Here are the details:

  • Price: $350/member and $438/non-member
  • Max number of passengers: 6 (plus captain Cullen)
  • Trip length: 4 hours
  • Port of departure: Typically Bass River or Orleans. Exact location will be emailed to you the night before the trip.

Please be at your computer and ready to register online this Wednesday at 6pm sharp. Please click here and enter your email address to be notified as soon as registration goes live.

Usually spots onboard our group trips sell out quickly. If you miss out on one of these trips, then please stay tuned as I will do my best to organize more opportunities.
