Big Bass in the Cape Cod Surf

The much talked about "fall run" is certainly underway here on Cape Cod.

Yesterday I was fortunate to encounter stellar surfcasting despite very windy, and very rough conditions.

I had an entire crew of great people with me yesterday including my friend Dave Steeves from the Goose Hummock Shop in Orleans, and my drone-flying friend Zach Lesinski from 2020skysight.com.

Filmmakers Shane Uriot and Evan Schneider were also on the beach capturing footage for a pilot episode of My Fishing Cape Cod TV, which could air either on television or here on our website during 2017.

Overall Dave and I enjoyed a very productive morning of fishing, catching more than a dozen fish on plugs and flies, with bass to 30 pounds and bluefish close to 15 pounds.

  • Great footage on how to use a pencil . I will agree with you that the Hess Guppy plugs are all fish catchers and also work the way they should. One thing from an old school night pencil popper along a beach front with feeding fish ,is given the circumstances and conditions that they will take fish during the stealth hours both bass and blue fish will hunt them down. Patients and color along with size [usually the largest you can throw ] has been very productive for me over the years, Peace and Prayers Carl
