Last night the wind was blowing 35 knots out of the north and it was cold! Nevertheless, striped bass of up to 36 inches were biting jigs fished off the bottom.
My evening of fishing began with 2 year My Fishing Cape Cod member, Mike Marcus. Mike was kind enough to call me in on a hot bite!
I really appreciate it whenever a member of MFCC gives me intel and information. Thank you Mike and thank you to all the other members who share helpful information in our members-only forum.

During our walk out to Mike's secret spot we noticed baitfish splashing around in the shallow water. It looked to me like there might be peanut bunker and silversides in the area.
There was certainly an October chill in the air yesterday evening, however the sunset over the water was spectacular!
According to Mike, he had fished the night before at this spot, and caught many bluefish and a bunch of stripers into the 30 inch range.
I had personally never fished the spot before, so I was very excited to check it out. There are still so many cool places on Cape Cod which I have never explored and fished.
The place was as dead as a door nail when we arrived, but that all changed once it got dark. The bass and bluefish moved in after sunset and we started to hook up!

Nice fish guys, congrats! Looking forward to listening to the Friday 10/4 fishing podcast too (maybe another Monday edition?)…haven’t seen it yet, coming out soon?
Thanks! That was a very fun trip.
Kevin had to go to Virginia for work this past weekend, so we just published the podcast today. You can check it out here.
Gluck if you make it out fishing this week!
Ryan, you are the fish whisperer – always enjoyable fishing with you.
Sounds like a great night guys.
Mike Marcus is a pleasure to fish with along the shore or on the bay. He’s convinced me to get back into enjoying the great fresh water fishery we have here on the Cape. More to come….
Nice Steve! Freshwater is awesome, and Mike seems to have found a pond that is producing well right now.
Mike I had a great time as well. Hope to do it again sometime! ?
