Ryan Collins
During this offshore canyons trip we arrived at this location at around 7:30 in the morning. Within just a few minutes MFCC member Kurt Saraceno, his dad Ted and friend Curtis had our 8 rod spread fishing nicely behind the boat.
Suddenly and without any warning several of the spreader bars got smashed by yellowfin and bigeye tuna. Whitewater was sent spraying into the air and the drags on the 50's and 80's were sizzling. Fish on!
Apparently a pack of very aggressive tunas had crossed paths with our spread, because an instant later every single rod was bent over under the strain of a fish. We did our best to keep lines tight without tangling.

Overall this canyons trip was a fantastic experience! I cannot thank MFCC member Kurt Saraceno, his dad Ted and family friend Curtis for having me along. I had an awesome time fishing with you guys.
The canyons are a long ways from home and fishing there is a really unique experience. If you ever get an invitation to fish the canyons and the weather cooperates, then I suggest you jump at the opportunity.
It will probably be an experience you will never forget!
