Danya Mahota is a local surfcaster who fished alongside the late Tony Stetzko. Yesterday I received a call from Danya, and I swear I could feel his excitement and enthusiasm pulsating through my cell phone.
This could only mean one thing - Danya must of hit a big school of big stripers while fishing the nightshift on some remote stretch of Cape Cod shoreline. Why else would he be so darn excited!?
Danya went on to tell me that he's been catching dozens of striped bass, up to 30 pounds, from shore during the past 72 hours. If you love surfcasting on Cape Cod, then I definitely recommend listening in to this latest podcast with Danya by clicking below.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Danya and fishing with him on multiple occasions. Great guy and great fisherman! Got me into teaser fishing and I have never looked back. They work great!
I agree! Always enjoy my time fishing with Danya. He ought to be a professional guide!
The teasers do work very well. I like the Red Gill Teasers the most.
Minute 13, blessed to live on the Cape! Aint it the truth. Thanks, Ryan and Dayna.
Every night out in this great place is a gift. The fishing is nice, but being out on the beaches of Cape Cod at night is priceless.
Dayna is a great resource for surf fishing. Great podcast. Thanks for sharing with us. I am adding teasers today! DJ Muller says exactly what Dayna said.
You won’t regret it! We’ll make a video and put it up here so people can see how the teasers work on or off a dropper loop.
That’d make for a terrific video Danya, good idea!
Da ya hit a nerve, needles and teasers are one of my go to setups. A couple of variations are if you can’t seem to get away from the bluefish it’s better to cut off the teaser or risk losing a plug. The second is I do the opposite color wise, black on new moons and lighter on full or bright moons. Obviously each approach works so that ought to speak volumes. He is also dead on with retrieve, low and slow don’t ha know. Also run and gun, work that beach! No action? Move! The sun will be up before you know it, we need to make the best of the night. I will be on m.v. 6/13-6/20, need
Sean’s teasers will be the first thing out of my bag. Thanks for the post, great stuff!
Last sentence should have read, needles and teasers. Damn spellcheck!?
Great insight Art! Yes Danya is spot-on with a lot of his recommendations, that is for sure.
I hope you guys hit ’em hard this year at the Vineyard.
