This is a guest report from Chris Cormier, who is a longtime MFCC member. This year Chris and his dad Jean purchased a new boat, which they will be using to fish & explore the waters around Cape Cod.
It was the 3rd time out on our new boat for the year. We decided to hit the Cape again after hearing that the big boys had arrived in numerous spots throughout the region.
My father Jean, myself and two of my friends were on the road by 5am in order to catch the morning bite. With our poles ready and gear secure, we steamed out onto a glass calm ocean.

Making Bait
We had about 9Â or 10 boats around us, and before we knew it our live well was full. Now that we had made bait, we steamed off again to our fishing destination for the day.
As soon as we arrived we saw boats with multiple poles bent-THEY WERE THERE! It wasn’t long before we had our first bite and brought in our first keeper ever on our new boat!
We caught one more schoolie before using up all of our bait. Our second trip for bait went a lot quicker than our first and we quickly put a dozen baits into the live well.
We waited a little while longer to throw a few more in the boat before steaming off to try and catch a few more stripers. The water was still glass calm and we enjoyed a smooth ride back and forth from different locations.
The sight around us once getting back to our fishing location wasn’t any different from before, with every boat having rods bent or nets in the water, grabbing hold of stripers ranging from schoolies to 20Â-25lb fish.
The mid day bite seemed to have been a bit slower than the morning but nonetheless we managed another fish within 30 minutes of baits in the water.
Of course there is always "the one that got away" and sure enough we ended up losing what was probably the largest bass of the day. Final tally was 3 stripers with one of them being keeper-size.
Overall a great trip out on our new boat and we couldn't have asked for better weather or ocean conditions!

Great post! The boat fishing appears to be starting to heat up around CCB.
Thanks for contributing Chris and be sure to say hello to Jean for me!
