The bass was cruising over a sandbar in just 3 feet of water. I could barely see the fish's profile against the backdrop of the light brown sand, but it was a fish nonetheless.
This was a good sign and I was happy that at least one fish was in the area. I was even happier that I had a full 1.5 hours of fishing time before the tide would force me from my little island of sand.
Yesterday we published this on-site podcast report, recorded as I waded out into the water off Cape Cod. Today I would like to fill you in on how the rest of this trip went.

Fish In 3ft Of Water
Around 6:30PM I made my first cast of the trip into a dark patch of blue water and began my retrieve. Halfway through the retrieve and BAM! - a super aggressive striper hit my plug so hard, that the plug flew straight clear out of the water.
Unfortunately I missed the hook set, but a couple casts later I had another opportunity. This time the hooks held and I landed my first fish of the evening.
I was fishing near an island of sand. The receding tide had left me with a small patch of dry land surrounded by crystal clear water.
So not only were there fish around, but I was also blessed with some spectacular scenery. I love fishing in areas like this.
Most of the bites happened when I brought my plug through areas of current, rip lines and troughs.
Most of the fish were small, but I did manage one keeper in the low 30 inch range, as you'll see in the below video.
It was a great evening to be out fishing, and catching this bass was a bonus!

I heading to Brewster this weekend for my first ever surf fishing experience. I’ve been fishing freswater my entire life, but have been looking forward to fishing the flats my entire life. I’ll be going to Linnell Landing and fishing from there. Any advise or tips are welcomed.(Times, baits..etc)
Be safe is the #1 thing! Fishermen have drowned out there.
I always head back in as soon as the incoming tide begins.
No fish is worth that chance!
Hey, great catch in the shallows! I fish mostly the canal, but there are alot of great spots once your over the bridge! Im curious to know where you fish down there? cheers!
Many great spots Jamie, that is for sure!
I tend to fish all over creation, from the Canal to Provincetown and everywhere in between.
Google Earth has been a BIG help for me, and access is usually not too bad super early in the AM or late at night.
