Ryan Collins
I thought my coffee tasted a little strange, so I asked Jack Bosch if his cup of Joe tasted a little salty.
He replied that yes, his coffee was indeed quite salty. That is when it dawned on us that we had been adding salt, not sugar, to our coffees.
That was just the start to what would be a very interesting day. We had worked very hard during Part #1 of this fishing adventure for several schoolies and one small keeper.
I had a feeling we would still have to work pretty hard to find the fish, but I also knew that conditions could change at any moment. Things happen quick in the ocean, and big fish can show up just when you least expect it.

Saturday Evening
During Part #1 myself and the MFCC crew had fished hard Friday evening and Saturday morning. We had walked most of the island, and we were all feeling the aches and pains which come with the territory.
Fortunately MFCC member Tony Amendolia was able to secure a golf cart to transport us part of the way to our fishing destination Saturday evening. This would save us a lot of steps.
I had lots of photos to share with you from this section of the trip, but despite the protection of my LifeProof case, my iPhone (and all it's photos) succumbed to water damage from a larger than anticipated wave.
Fortunately I still had the GoPro cameras running when this fish hit...
It seemed like small packs of schoolies and small keepers were scarcely spread out among the boulder fields. The hits were few and far between, but there were certainly some bass around.
The MFCC crew continued working hard and covering ground. I desperately wanted the guys to get into some fish, and early Sunday morning it finally happened for Dex and Steve.
Looks like it was an awesome trip, I’ve gotta get out to Cutty sometime in the future.
Nice work guys! Sounds like a very good trip, and you managed to put in the effort and find some fish. Hopefully we start to see more of the larger fish in consistent numbers soon.
Not gonna lie, it was a challenge finding fish! They were few and far between but at least we caught a few.
Largest bass I have heard of so far in the Cape area is 39 pounds. The real big boys are filtering in.
I heard that too. They are definitely starting to slowly filter in. Hopefully by Memorial Day we will have consistent action on those larger fish.
I saw Ryan set up his camera on a rock as I walked by him. I asked him if he did that all the time before going into the water. He said not usually but thought he should be prepared this time. He then proceeded to walk into the water and catch a fish on his first cast. Amazing!! The fish whisperer!!
I finally got into an MFCC video. Did it have to be when someone else was catching a fish!?
LOL!!!
