Catching Striped Bass With The New “Dart Spin”

Stripers can be caught using the same lures that your grandfather used. However, I think it can be fun to experiment with new stuff!

So far this spring, quite a few members here on MFCC have been using the new "dart spin" lure with success.

The dart spin is an ultra-durable soft plastic lure. I have been told it can even withstand the sharp teeth of small bluefish!

Last week on Wednesday May 15th I finally got an opportunity to try the dart spin for striped bass here on Cape.

Conditions were cold and wet with a brisk 25mph breeze out of the east, (which I think got the bass biting). As the tide flooded a school of bass became "stacked up" in a nearshore rip.

What I most like about the dart spin is its durability and the ease of unhooking fish. The lure also feels very realistic.

There have even been reports in the My Fishing Cape Cod forum about stripers engulfing the dart spin, spitting the it out, and then re-engulfing the dart spin. Now that is pretty amazing!

My buddies over at the Goose Hummock Shop in Orleans sent me an assortment of dart spins which I would like to giveaway to a lucky member here on MFCC!!! ?? ?? ??
