Striper Trips with Captain Tyler

Striped bass is what most folks get really excited about.  Fishing for stripers is the most popular type of trip because these fish get bit, fight hard, are beautiful, and often attack topwater plugs and often baits, and sometimes produce incredible blitzes and adrenaline pumping action.

During these trips you'll be fishing with my friend Capt. Tyler Putney of Flatliner Charter on his 28' Whitewater Center Console. Over the years we've run more than 100 group fishing trips with captain Tyler.

During these striper trips you may fish live bait, cast plugs, or vertical jig with spinning tackle. Each person onboard will be provided with a rod, reel and tackle.

Cost is $289/person for My Fishing Cape Cod members.  Members may purchase spots onboard trips for their non-member friends and family.

Trip details:

  • Max number of anglers: 4
  • Trip length: 5 hours
  • Trip time: Around sunrise (exact time will be emailed to you 24hrs in advance)
  • Port of departure: Tyler trailer their boats to numerous harbors throughout Cape Cod and Plymouth. This allows him to go to where the best fishing for stripers is happening. The port of departure will be emailed to you at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Area fished: Wherever the best striper fishing is happening.
  • Techniques used: It will depend on what's working best. You may cast plugs, fish live bait, or vertical jig with spinning tackle. Each angler onboard will be provided with a rod, reel and tackle.
  • Gear and tackle will be provided
  • While not mandatory, it is customary to give charter captains a tip at the end of the trip.  For these striped bass trips, that would equate to around $35/person.
  • One question I often get asked is whether or not there is a bathroom onboard, which there is not. We encourage women to join these trips and we often have women onboard, so I just wanted to mention that.

Testimonials from members:

Over the past few years quite a number of members have emailed me saying nice things about their trips with Tyler. Here's a few of what people have been saying...

Captain Tyler worked hard and kept us on fish all morning.

Wonderful morning with Captain Tyler Putney of Flatliner Charters on his 28 foot center console boat . We fished the rips of Monomoy and caught several stripers and Bonito. Thank you Ryan or My FishingCape Cod for setting up these charters for the members. I enjoyed fishing with Vinny Steven and Michelle.

It was a wonderful trip and I hope to have more.

My last trip resulted in a wonderful battle with a huge striped bass on my fly rod - the largest fish by far I have ever landed on a fly (which I tied myself the night before). Thank you to the efforts and advice by your excellent Captain Tyler who put me in just the right spot.

Another successful day for Michelle. Tyler didn’t like the weather out by the sea bass beds so we stayed off of the Yarmouth area and targeted Bonita. Michelle’s first one!
For a while we had an escort, good size hammerhead.

Now Michelle is ready for tautog, we have created a fishing monster, lol

Couldn't be happier!

We had a great trip with captain Tyler. We all had a great time and caught many slot sized stripers. Tyler put us on fish in a safe location well protected from strong southwest winds!

Great day with Tyler!

Had a great day with Tyler catching striped bass. He is an excellent Captain. On the fish and really helpful. A great guy. For being 84, I had a special day.

It was a great trip!

Glad we went early. Spectacular weather and productive fishing. Kudos to Capt Tyler.

Tyler did a great job!

Tyler did a really great job of answering my many questions about radar and fish finders and top water plugs, etc. I caught the biggest fish at 38” and another at 32”, and a perfectly slotted one at 29.5

My arms are sore from all the fish we caught!

What a morning on the water at the rips off of Monomoy. Captain Tyler did it again. Getting ready to go again in July.

It was a great trip!

First father and son trip in a few years and Captain Tyler put us on the fish. My son Sean caught is personal best at 38” and we maxed out our keepers. Tyler always makes it a memorable day, and it was fun pairing up with a couple MFCC members.

  • I can’t say enough about how terrific it is to fish with Capt. Tyler. He took us out to the Monomoy rips yesterday and each of the four people on the boat caught a keeper in the first hour and about 15 each for the entire trip. The striper bite was on fire! Can’t wait to sign up and go out with him again this summer!
