Over the past month I've spent a lot of "butt in seat" time making technical improvements to the MFCC website. Web design is a lot like fishing in that I have to try out different strategies and ideas until I find something that works.
Making it easier for you to sift through the 200+ videos here on MFCC has been a goal of mine for a long time now. Finally, I think I have come up with a solid solution for accessing all of the videos here on the site.
The new Videos page ought to make sifting through all the videos here on the site much easier. This post will dive into greater detail about how this new page works.
Never Miss Another Video Again
Unless you're checking the blog daily during the season, it can be easy to plain out miss a video. Before you know it, last week's video is buried among all the other content here on the site.
Now all the videos can be accessed by clicking the "Videos" link in the main navigation menu.
Once you land on the new Videos page, you can easily see the latest videos by clicking on the "Most Recent" toggle. When you click on the toggle, the category will open up and display the most recently published videos.
As usual, the below green banner marks videos which can be accessed only by My Fishing Cape Cod members.
Click The Toggles To View Videos
As you scroll down the new videos page you will see an assortment of different toggles, including Video Reports, How To Videos and more.
Click on a toggle to display the videos in that specific category.
You can view dozens of video reports, how to videos and a variety of other videos by using the toggles.
Scroll down the length of the new videos page to get a better sense of what I mean.
I Still Have More "Butt In Seat" Time Left
The majority of MFCC videos have already been added to the new videos page. However I still have many more videos left to add.
I will also soon be returning to a more regular content publishing schedule and will be creating many more videos and regular posts and reports throughout the winter.
However, one of my main goals right now is to improve the technical side of the My Fishing Cape Cod website, including the forum. I would much rather take care of this stuff during the off-season than during the spring and summer, for obvious reasons!
Please keep me posted with what you think - I appreciate your feedback!
Tight lines and take care,
Ryan
Ryan, I think you have done an outstanding job of putting things together for us. I have already tested the site and I have already picked up more knowledge that I wanted to acquire (such as how to properly fish live eels from shore…thank you very much.) Whenever I have some extra time on my hands I expect that I will try to look at everything you have added. Great job!
Excellent, thanks Brian.
Lots more improvements in the works as well. “Butt in seat” time for me will last another month or so…then time to fish again.
Have a great Holiday!
