Night #2 of Surfcasting Lower Cape Cod

Most of the beaches on Lower Cape Cod are pristine and undeveloped.

Fishing this area feels more "wild" than fishing other spots on Cape, and that is a major reason why I so much enjoy fishing this part of the world.

When I set foot on the beach around 5pm yesterday evening, I was greeted by perfect bluebird skies, and a crisp but manageable east wind.

I had a feeling I was in for a special trip. The night before I had a blast catching a handful of stripers up to around 28 inches.

Perhaps tonight would be the night I stumbled across a slug of real big fish?

Thank you for following along on this mini-expedition. As always I really enjoyed sharing the trek with you.

Tomorrow morning and afternoon I am fishing with two groups of My Fishing Cape Codders onboard our Friday group fishing trips.

I will keep you posted with what we find out there! Until then I hope you have a wonderful night.

Tight lines,

  • thanks for sharing. i shot out to coast guard beach on Sunday but was bummed to learn that the stairway at the eastham spot had been destroyed this winter so that put the kibosh on my plans. i’ll have to find another access point next trip.

  • Great video report. Those areas are my favorite places to fish. Can’t wait to get down there in a few weeks. Noticed that you stuck with the same lure all night, nice tip!

    • I agree, they definitely are some of my favorite places to fish too.

I hope the big fish will be in the area when you arrive in a couple weeks. I think they will be.

      Tight lines!

  • Hey Ryan, I liked the Lower Cape videos and could use some pointers. I am just starting to Surf fish again after 40 years in the mountains. It would really help to hear about your tackle choices from rod size to line and lures on the videos. I know its old school but it really helps folks like me when choosing gear.

  • Ryan,

I am envious of your adventures, especially enjoyable as I am sidelined with a bad back. Thanks for sharing!
