The results are in for our 4th annual "Fluke vs Cancer" Fundraiser to benefit the pediatric division of Boston Children's Hospital!

The fundraiser was led by MFCC member Bruno Demir. The first year we did this MFCC raised over $2,000. The second year we hit $5,000 and last year we hit $7,000. This year our goal was $15,000.

Thanks to you guys, My Fishing Cape Cod was able to help raise over $11,000. Then in the bottom of the ninth, not long before the fundraiser closed, we received a corporate donation from Morgan Stanley of $4,000.

This brought the grand total to nearly $16,000 which is a new record!

Over the four years we've done this, if you total up the amount of money raised, we've been able to donate over $30,000 towards pediatric cancer assistance and research at Boston Children's Hospital. Amazing. 🙌🏻

As promised, the first 20 people who donated $100 or more will receive a kit of lures from Monomoy Tackle. The first 20 people who donated $250 or more will receive the kit of lures, plus a My Fishing Cape Cod pencil popper!

If you are one of those people then you will receive an email from me this week confirming your mailing address. 👍

And of course, anyone who donated $30 or more was included in the drawing to go fluke fishing with MFCC Bruno Demir and Eddy Kooyomjian. The guys drew the winners last night and captured the drawing on video.

Bruno and Eddy are hoping to do the fluke trip this Thursday or Friday.

Previous Fluke vs Cancer Trips

Last year's fluke trip winners were Leslie Kalinowski and Joe Vaudo Jr. On August 24th 2023 the crews headed out for their fluke trip and everyone caught a bunch of fish.

Leslie Kalinowski, one of the 2023 fluke trip winners, poses alongside Bruno's sons Emir and Ali.

Joe Vaudo Jr. (center) poses with some nice fluke caught while fishing with Eddy and Mark Kooyomjian.

You can read the full report of last year's trip by clicking here.

In 2022 the lucky winners of the fluke trip were MFCC members Mark Bonvouloir and Tim Whitman.

7 year MFCC member Mark Bonvouloir with a nice fluke (also called summer flounder). Mark loves all sorts of fishing, but he says sight casting to white marlin is the most exciting.

Tim Whitman recently moved to Cape Cod, and he joined MFCC as a member in April 2022.

During the 2022 trip the crews caught 8 different species in just one day! You can read the full report from that trip here.

In 2021 for our first ever fluke vs cancer trip, MFCC members Leo Schmidt and Richard Chouinard were the winners.

I actually put together an episode of My Fishing Cape Cod TV highlighting this trip, which you can watch below.

Stay Tuned for August 19th

Thank you to everyone who has donated in the past. Let's make this year's campaign bigger and better than ever before!

Be sure to stay tuned for August 19th when Bruno and Eddy will be drawing the fluke trip winners from the names of people who donated $30 or more. We will make a post here on MFCC to let everyone know who won.

In the meantime, please consider making a donation here. We really appreciate your assistance in helping us reach out $15,000 goal.

Tight lines! 🎣

I'm fortunate to have grown up on the beach, and I've been fishing since kindergarten. I have great family, friends and fishing experiences to be thankful for. Just being out there is enough-catching fish is just a bonus!

  • Happy to donate to this beautiful cause BUT, **I WILL PASS if my name is picked!!! I was a winner last year! What a blast we had! Bruno’s boat is so comfortable and beautiful! His boys are adorable too! We caught a ton of fluke! Best of luck to all that donate! Here are a few pics from last year! I’ve been using Louisiana Fish Fry a lot since Bruno recommended it! Yum!

  • Just donated. This cause is too close to my heart not to do anything. I’ll also be riding in my 12th Pan-Mass Challenge this weekend because it’s so important to me.

    • Congratulations on your 12th PMC challenge!! And Thank You! I will be at ” Da Hedge” in Brewster, at 630 a.m. holding a sign and rooting on the bikers. I have Supported a specific rider for the past twenty years. This is his last year riding. Do you know “Da Hedge” area? It’s on the left hand side of 6A, a little before Nickerson State Park. The kids from Cape Cod Sea Camps used to be there to root on the riders.

  • In 2016 I had to take my youngest child to BCH to be checked for leukemia due to signs of the disease on his skin. It was the most humbling and scariest experience of my life. It turned out to be a false alarm and I was so grateful for the folks at BCH for there professionalism and expertise, best in the world in my opinion. We were one of the lucky families to walk out of the hospital that day, some were not. I made a promise that day that I would do my part in helping the fight against cancer. I have raised money and have volunteered time for the cause in different ways but this by far is the most successful and fun way I have done it. Thank you Ryan and my cousin Eddie for your support but even more thank you to all the members, I would not be able to do this without you folks.

  • Great cause. Everybody should find it in their heart to donate a little sum for the kids and their families
